I can ski...!

Went away to Eildon for the weekend and had a go at waterskiing again and GUESS WHAT. I GOT UP! Yay! This is officially my second time trying waterskiing. Earlier this year the skis and the life jacket were too big for me so three weeks ago I was given junior skis and a smaller life jacket. Though it was a hell of a lot easier to control with the right fitting gear, I still couldn't get up standing becaues my technique was still not 100% right and I didn't get the 'feel' for standing up. I stood up for 1 second but a face plant immediately followed.

This weekend I gave it another shot despite my confidence levels fast depleting because I thought I'll never be able to get up on my skis... and forever being dragged along the surface of the water! But after four unsuccessful goes, I GOT UP! And I stayed up! Man I was sooo excited. I *finally* did it. And it felt so awesome! Wind in face, nice scenery, your feet (and skis) skimming along the surface of the water at an incredible speed, the sound of water splashing all around you. I am still pretty unco standing up, apparently my legs are too bowed... but that'll come with more practice. The first time I got up, the water was really calm so I could 'go the distance' without stacking it. I ski'd til my legs became tired. Really takes a lot out of your legs!

That same arvo I did it again but it was a lot windier by then and the water was really choppy. I kept stacking it but atleast I was getting up on my skis - that's all that mattered to me!
