OMFG it is SO hot today. There are a few OMFGs that I have to report right now.
OMFG No. 1: We won trivia for like, the second time. I haven't been to trivia for so so so long. I think it was October that I last went. And when I went this week, we won. Go us. There are prize improvements too. I'm currently wearing a CuervoNation Wants You t-shirt. Hehehehe.
OMFG No. 2: The art world is booming like never before. Sotheby's art sale in London last week fetched total sales of 233,023,200 British Pounds - the highest grossing art sale in Europe. Ever. That equates to just under AUD 600 million. I guess now isn't the best time for me to make my Warhol purchase.
OMFG No. 3: The Australian Stock Market is totally cleaning it. About 10 months ago, the talk was "Will it go above 5000? And if it does, will it be able to sustain it? It's doing so well right now. Maybe a little too well. It's going to crash sooner or later. Oooh, 5000. Will it? Or will it not??" And now? It's just about to hit 6000. *6000*, peoples! And my Woolworths shares are going absolutely crazy. Like, OMFG.
OMFG No. 4: Coat tailing the rise in the ASX and a strong economy, our dollar is also hitting the roof. It's about 78 cents to the American dollar! Time to buy shit off eBay & Amazon!!!
OMFG No. 5: I am now two weeks into work and, frankly, I'm really enjoying it. The work is challenging and there's so much opportunity for my career to develop. We have a performance review coming up and you have to set your goals for the year - and it's great to know that the company is behind you all the way. I'm joining the Institute of Actuaries Australia soon and going to start working my way through the actuarial exams to get my FIAA. I calculated that it's going to take me atleast 5 years minimum. That's if I don't fail anything, which is being incredibly optimistic because the word going around the office is "If you've *never* ever failed anything in your life, you'll fail Part III." Besides the work, the people are great - friendly and supportive. And did I mention that I have an awesome desk? ;) Well, it's slowly being filled and decorated with all things George.
OMFG No. 6: A two week holiday in Europe in late Aug/early Sept is on the cards. I'm trying to get leave and it all seems rather likely at this stage!
OMFG No. 7: Valentine's Day, for the first time ever, was absolutely awesome.
... and lastly
OMFG No. 8: It is SOOO HOT today, like, 40 degrees!! I vacuumed half a room and I was about to faint!
Ok, and that's all the news for now. Til next time, Catchyaaas.

Working
2/09/2007 01:19:00 PM
So I started my first real job this week. I think I was kinda ready to start as my holidays were becoming bland and I'd pretty much do the same things every week. But that didn't mean that I didn't enjoy my holidays and that I was totally excited about work! I was hanging onto my holidays as if I was hanging onto the top of a building trying to save my own life after accidentally stepping off the edge. Maaaan, I was moping. But then I got a hold of myself and said "Go do something useful with yourself!" I was seriously crapping myself on my first morning... had no idea what to expect, etc. And it always requires so much energy to get to know new people and remembering names. Now, 5 days down the track I'm finally getting all the names right! So I'll tell you about my awesome desk. So, like, I have this awesome desk. It's a cubicle but it's a nice cubicle... with rich dark red cushioned walls. The desk is huge with a fancy computer with a flat screen monitor and my own phone which has my name and extension displayed on the LCD screen. It's awesome to have my own space. At the moment it's looking rather dull as I haven't bothered to bring stuff to decorate it - like photos, bearbricks, y'know crazy George stuff!! Might prepare something this weekend to bring next week!! And I've been wearing some awesome corporate clothes too. It feels really weird actually. I feel SO OLD, mature... and... part of a completely different demographic. This is something that just has happened... like, I can't control it. Seriously, it came as a massive surprise. When I was out and about in the city during lunch time on Tuesday and saw people NOT in corporate clothing, I think "Wtf do you guys do with yourselves all day?? Bludgers". And I was shocked to hear myself thinking that!! But it's just what office clothes do to you!!! OK I gtg get back to work. I had 10 mins to spare before lunch break was over so I blogged. HA. HA. BUSY DAY!
