Don't really know what to call this post but its a brand new post and so its going to be called "brand new". I realise that when I post next, whenever that may be, this post will no longer be brand new or atleast til after you've read it. But I'm never one to think about the future, well, not for tedious things like this anyway.
Um, so what's new. There are limits to what I can blog here about my personal life but what I can say is that recently I've been trying to get used to a life that's a little different from before. It's been going pretty well though. I have found new and wholesome things to keep me occupied.
For one, I'm trying my best to not let work take over my life but that's easy to do for now because the workload is hardly anything. I thought I might take up some actuarial study but I have decided not to anymore, atleast until the end of the year, because it's time I gave myself a bit of a break from study considering that's what I have been doing the past 5 years. I think I should use this time to do the things that I always wanted to do... enjoy the free weekends, the free weeknights, and the income!
I'm a member of a gym now and I go about 4 times a week! It's great. I can't believe how much more energy I can get when I go to the gym. And I feel awesome about myself after. I booked a personal trainer whom I have my first appointment with next Thursday. She's like, really enthusiastic and speaks with exclamation marks. And the other day she smsed me confirming my time again and it was full of exclamation marks too. Yeah, we're sms buddies now.
On top of this, I've been thinking about taking up ballet! It's been something I've wished my whole life that I did. On top of this, I have really good flexibility (I'm 22 and can still touch my knees with my nose without having to warm up) and a good sense of balance. I remember having these ballet shoes when I was about 5 and I'd wear them around the house pretending I was a ballerina and tried to go en pointe and get disappointed, wondering why it was so hard for me to do it when it looks so easy for pro ballet dancers. Of course at that age, how was I supposed to know that it took years and years of hardcore training just to do pointe work :P
It never really happened when I was a kid because my parents thought it might ruin my legs/feet. But now that I'm 22, I still really want to do it. I thought that maybe it was far too late so I did some research on the internet, and *
this* came up. It was like, fate or something, because I'm 22 and this is exactly what I needed to find out.
So I sniffed about the internet to look for adult ballet classes. Like yeah right I'm going to do classes with friggin' 5 year olds (though I'll probably be about the same height as them...). I found an awesome Ballet school here in Melbourne just for adults and gave them a call. The lady I spoke to started the school and she was really friendly. You can tell they are really serious about their students because she asked a lot of questions like "How interested and serious are you in taking up ballet?", "Do you have strong attention to detail?", etc etc. There's a big waiting list for the entry level class but we got chatting and she said she might be able to slot me in the next class if someone bails - to join in Term 2. I said I was very very oh so very interested in doing this and so I think that helped. Man I want to do this sooo much, it's not funny!!
Speaking of ballet, on Thursday night Robyn and I went to see the Australian Ballet Company's production of Don Quixote. It was sooo soo sososososo sososos so so good. I really can't get over how graceful ballet dancers are in everything that they do. How their bodies seem to be able to defy gravity and every other law in physics. It was a stunning performance and completely strengthened my motivation behind doing ballet. And yesterday during lunch I walked all the way to Bloch in Southgate in the scorching heat to look at some ballet shoes. I can't wait to start class because I really want to buy a pair NOW!
So yeah, its good. I haven't been so excited about starting anything for a really really long time. I think gyming and ballet will be taking up a lot of my spare time and so it's good that I've taken a break from study because I seriously wouldn't know how I could fit all of this in with full-time work.
I know I dreaded the full-time work lifestyle, but seriously, it's been okay because I would never have been able to afford ballet classes on top of a full gym membership whilst being a uni student!
Til next time, Ciao ciao.
