Unwashed and somewhat slightly dazed.
1/20/2005 06:36:00 PM
Well, I am not 'unwashed' since I just had a shower 5 minutes ago but I am certainly slightly dazed if not a lot.
Nothing out of the blue really happened to me today but something certainly did to leave me feeling so overwhelmed right now. My mind feels as if it's in some kind of post-trauma, shocked state. Reeling back from words that were said and trying to figure out what the hell it all meant. A saviour in disguise or a retard who thinks they know too much? Who knows. I feel as if I've been slapped across the face thirty times and then comforted at the end with a cotton swab. Now what am I supposed to be thinking after that?
I want to yell out more than fifty different types of swear word right now and crawl into a hole and die. Either that or wake up and smell the cigarettes and do something about it. But all that seems way too hard for me right now and so I just want to do all that swearin' and crawlin' and dyin'.

LITTLE BARRIE
1/18/2005 10:03:00 PM
If you do get the chance, look out for this little London band called Little Barrie. They are awesome! I can't seem to find their album anywhere in stores or any mp3s so I'm again stuck in the middle of nowhere unable to get my hands on their music. The only time I can listen to it is when it is occasionally played on Triple J. This is what happens when you listen too much of indie radio stations. You like the stuff they play but can't find it elsewhere! :( :( *GRR*. Anyways... with Little Barrie -- its a superb mix of early Elvis Presley, Bolan, James Brown, Bootsy Collins, Captain Beefheart... it's totally stripped down of superflouous sounds and getting down to the core of pure blues, funk, RnB, gospel and good ole rock n roll.
Watch out for the song "Burned Out" -- I'm currently obsessed with it!!

What is with this silly computer...
1/07/2005 09:40:00 PM
... that I feel so invariably drawn to? I can just sit at the computer doing nothing in particular and waste time. When I could be doing other more useful things. It's probably because there's no one ONLINE and I want someone to GET ONLINE so I can talk to them! This week has been a pretty strange one. It's got the cool bits to it (the booking of my holiday) and the crappy bits (having to go to work). What's this? I'm cursing work!! Not really... but work just takes me away from doing other things that I would so love to do otherwise -- such as wasting time on the computer like I am doing right now. I had a bit of a panic attack last night and realised that maybe I have to live like a povo for the rest of the year because my holiday will drain every cent out of my bank account. I did a bit of a rough calculation and realised that I cannot just simply spend on the unneccesary items that somewhat manage to lie in front of my greedy eyes. Such as this cool pair of sunglasses from Dangerfield and white fedora hat (of which I already have a black one). These sunnies are like those huge big round ones that the likes of Jacqueline Kennedy wore back in the day. I had never thought they'd suit me but they did. Dangerfield is evil and I shall never want to step into that store again until I have some more disposable income. Speaking of disposable income, such things can be saved by downloading free music. Unfortunately, one of my favourite Bit Torrent websites, www.suprnova.org, has shut down mainly because they "cannot handle hosting so many torrents". Such a shame because my collection of Brian Ferry and Roxy Music came from such dependable sources. I saw a few nice oroginal Roxy Music vinyls in Collector's Corner on Swanston street but I decided not to get them because not only do I own them in electronic form, I simply cannot be bothered using my record player anymore. This is mainly because I am lazy to get up every twenty minutes and flip the record over to the other side. Such trivial things annoy me and there should be a self flipping record player out there for people like myself. If you own one and want to sell it, please contact me or my personal assistant. Thank you.

Some cool and unknown (maybe) new music.
1/05/2005 09:30:00 PM
Okay, so it's me again blogging for the second time today but it's because I have to. Well, WANT to anyway.
Got two new artists (music artists, that is) in which I want to spread the word about, if you haven't heard of them yet.
Brad Sucks (The one man band with no fans)
I haven't heard much of his whole album yet but I REALLY love the song "I Think I Started A Trend". The song is indie mellow rock (it reminds me of the Sleepy Jackson) but the other songs on the album have an interesting mix of electronic and synthesiser work too. Brad releases his albums free on the net www.bradsucks.net which is a fantastic concept. He actually wants you to steal his music and share around with your friends. I like artists who do this! He's getting a fair bit of attention now (slowly) since our local indie radio station Triple J started playing his songs. I had a quick listen to some songs on the album (which you can just download for free or pay $5 for him to send you a burnt version from his own computer) and it's actually really impressive so far. And if the song "I Think I Started A Trend" (which you should atleast check out!) is anything to go by, I think Brad will finally get a few more fans!! He's definetly got me!
Izabo
Izabo is a band from Isreal and I love them! Well, atleast their song "Morning Hero", which is one out of only two songs that I have heard from them. But I love any band with such a unique psychedelic, punky, groovy and slightly arabic sound... and the vocals! Oh the vocals! They have a really fresh sound which I am now addicted to and I went crazy searching for some mp3s and CDs of the band to find nothing. Then I decided to do a search on Google and I found their official site www.izabo.co.uk. You can hear a sample of "Morning Hero" -- it's not the complete song though, but a good enough sample to have a taste of what the band is like. "I'm On You" is also a pretty cool song too. Then I found a bunch of sites in HEBREW which I don't understand. They have been playing a few gigs in Tel Aviv, London and NYC so some of you may have heard of them. They are slightly Modest Mousey but totally punked up! Check them out! (Edited: I just found out that you can purchase the album here at http://www.israel-music.com/izabo/)
Oh and another song that has been around for a while now but finding it's MP3 wasn't easy until lately (still, there isn't a whole heap of it). Mark Farina - Dream Machine feat. Sean Hayes.

L. A. New. York. OMG.
1/05/2005 08:30:00 PM
I'm so excited I just have to tell everyone.
Today I did the most spontaneous and drastic thing in my life. I went to a travel agency (STA Travel) with my friend and... Booked. A. 1. Month. Trip. To. New. York. City. in July without much hesitation! AND IT FEELS GREAT! I'm so excited I think I shall now piss in my pants! I've never felt so adult in my entire life. It feels so much more 'adult' compared to booking my own driving license test, enrolling into University and starting work at an engineering company!! Wow wow wow!!
I couldn't believe it when my agent printed me my ITINERARY. Yes. My very own ITINERARY of which I tailored all by myself. Oh, and my friend Robyn -- who I will be traveling with!
We won't actually be in NYC for a whole month. We're going by Qantas which has a stop-over in LA so we thought we would use this opportunity to spend 6 days or so there. May as well! Buy myself a star map or something. ... :P
AAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.... this is the most exciting thing I've done! I'm going to slowly pay off my ticket over the next 5 months. STA Travel is great. They really look after you and help you with everything -- and especially as a student, you get a WORLD of benefits and discounts!!
I also bought tickets to the Good Vibrations Festival on Feb 13. I'm going with Sarah and Mylo and Scissor Sisters are going to be playing! I so can't wait!!
This year is going to be one eventful year!!

Donate now!
1/03/2005 01:58:00 PM
I just made a donation to Oxfam Community Aid Abroad for the Earthquake Tsunami Appeal. Yesterday during my break at work, I went shopping and was considering buying a $200 A|X jacket and a pair of sporty shorts. I'm glad I didn't. This money could be of so much more help elsewhere and I donated.
I'm very pleased to see that Australians have donated $60 million on top of the Government's $60 million! Considering the how small our country's population is that is an immense effort!
Be part of it!
If you have internet banking facilities, it is really easy. Here are the details in which you need to make a donation via direct bank transfer.
Account Name: Oxfam Community Aid Abroad
BSB: 033048
A/c No.: 213583
Just simply transfer funds over to this account and it's done!
Forgo that t-shirt, top, dress... the money is needed more elsewhere!!
Check out their website for more information at www.oxfam.org.au.
